Rockwool vs Glasswool for Prefab Buildings
A practical guide to selecting mineral-wool systems for walls, ceilings, roofs, fire safety and acoustic comfort.

Rockwool
Rockwool is often selected where fire resistance, higher density and acoustic performance are important, especially partitions and wall systems. Density, thickness, facing and installation details should match the assembly.
Glasswool
Glasswool is lightweight and commonly effective for large ceiling and roof voids. It must be protected from moisture and installed without large gaps or compression that reduce thermal performance.
The assembly matters
Air barriers, vapour control, metal framing, cladding, gypsum/acoustic finishes and thermal bridges determine real performance. Insulation alone does not solve condensation or noise transmission.
